Notes
The product label is required for cartons containing only a single item. No product label is required for mixed item cartons, when mixed items are permitted by the Barnes & Noble purchase order.
Zone 1 – Mandatory for Non-Book Product Received at Barnes & Noble
For non-book products, the human readable information in Zone 1 is to include the title, vendor, and origin. Depending on the nature of a particular item, Barnes & Noble product managers may require other information in addition to that shown in the example.
Zone 2 – Optional for Non-Book Product Received at Barnes & Noble
Zone 2 may be used for information needed by the vendor or for information agreed to jointly by the vendor and the Barnes & Noble product manager.
Zone 3 – Mandatory for Non-Book Product Received at Barnes & Noble
The information in Zone 3 includes carton quantity, carton weight, UPC/EAN, and suggested unit price. As shown in the example layout above, Barnes & Noble supports the practice of identifying non-book products with EAN/UPC rather than ISBN. However, in some cases a non-book product closely associated with a book is assigned an ISBN. If that is the case, the ISBN is to be encoded as shown for the book product label.
Inner Carton Marking
When inner cartons (cartons inside the shipping carton) are used to provide additional product protection, the inner carton must show title, UPC/EAN (or ISBN), and inner carton quantity in a human-readable font. A product label is NOT to be used on the inner carton. |
