EAN/UCC-13

EAN/UCC-13 formally known as an EAN-13 EAN/UCC-13 is a 13-digit number composed of an EAN.UCC Company Prefix, a supplier assigned product number, and a Check Digit. The EAN.UCC Company Prefix and supplier assigned product number always total 12 digits in length although the relative length of each may vary. The EAN/UCC-13 number may be used to identify a shipping unit or sale unit.

The UCC and ECCC will begin supporting13-digit EAN/UCC-13 product ID numbers as early as January 2005. |

When EAN/UCC-13 numbers are stored in the GTIN format, Position one is an implied zero.
N (Positions 2 - 13) is a unique number consisting of two parts: an EAN.UCC Company Prefix assigned by the UCC or EAN International to a member company, and an Item Reference assigned by the member company to a product.
C is a Check Digit.
